My journey started almost 4 years ago. I suddenly found myself diagnosis with high cholesterol, anxiety and depression. I had never in the past had to struggle with my weight, I was a dancer and always worked out, but somewhere between wife hood and motherhood I gained 40 lbs and was very unhappy with myself.
At that point in my life I had never heard about Beachbody, so I do what most people do and I joined a gym. I had tried in the past and failed because mommy guilt had gotten the best of me and when my child continued to cry while in the child watch I felt to guilty to go back.
This time was different though, I chose not to get on a machine, I decided that I needed to keep my mind busy so that I wouldn't think about my kids in the child watch and feel guilt thinking they were crying for me. So I took my first step into a turbo kick class and my whole world changed.
How has being part of one of Julie's classes or groups helped you on your health and fitness journey?
Omg I could write a book on this.
I remember feeling so insecure the first months taking her classes. I remember struggling through them something terrible. However, being inn her classes not only helped me physically but she helped me to start believing in myself.
She, at one point, told me I needed to get out of the front row and start teaching. Those words lit a spark in me and lead me to getting turbo kick, Piyo and cize certified and now I teach 5 classes a week.
Taking Julie's classes not only helped me in my fitness journey, she helped me find ME again, not Christy the wife, not Christy the mom, ME...Christy. She helped me rediscover my passions and gave me the confidence to peruse them.
What can do you do now that you couldn't do before participating in a challenge group?
I can actually take a picture with my kids and family without feeling insecure.
