It seems like healthy eating should be fairly straight-forward and easy. But the term "healthy eating" has so many definitions, right? Trying to lose weight? Build muscle? Increase energy? Each of those goals could have different recipes for success. So don't go it alone. Head to the internet to find resources that educate, motivate, and inspire.
Greatist.com recently published a list of 19 resources they recommend to learn more about healthy eating and reach your goals.
The Greatist.com list is organized into four different categories:
Each of the 19 resources are listed with a description of what you can expect from that resource. And if I may be so bold, I would expand the list of resources by one more to make it an even 20 -- www.julievoris.com
But don't make yourself crazy trying to read and follow 19 -- or even 9 or even 5 -- different resources. Yikes! Then we're back to that information overload. Rather, check out the list, click through to learn more about each resource and then decide on one or two that work best for you, that fit where you are in your health and fitness journey.
You can do this!
Okay so I might be just a little fired up to share this news!
For 5 years, ever since it started, I have qualified to attend Team Beachbody's Success Club Leadership Retreat. This event is hands down the HARDEST event for me to attend, as it's smack dab in the middle of football season. And this event is hands down the BEST event I attend all year.
Next week, I will attend my SIXTH Leadership Retreat but this one is going to be extra special...because I get the immense honor of attending as a SPEAKER! And even better....I get to speak with my success partner and good friend, Danielle Natoni!
The past 5 years I've attended this amazing event, I have been in the audience, furiously taking notes, soaking in every bit of knowledge I possibly could....as I said, this event is no question the best one all year for me.
This year, Danielle and I have been blessed with the opportunity to share our experiences to help others learn and grow. This is kind of a big deal. This event is the attended by the best of the best in Team Beachbody...these coaches are the movers and shakers in the business. Yes, they are our friends...but these coaches are the LEADERS in Team Beachbody...they want to learn and grow and get better...we have immense respect for all of them and want to make sure we provide value. So...yes...it's a big deal.
It's super cool to think that some part of your life might inspire someone and help them grow. It's super SUPER cool to share that with your friend!
Lots of work ahead to get ready for next week...and I'm looking forward to every minute of it.
That's just about all I can say about the last two days.
These ladies and I worked hard to achieve a big goal this year, the only team in Indiana to do so, and one of only 30 in Team Beachbody as well.
So I decided we needed to celebrate! Spa time, amazing food, PiYo live outside by the ocean with Michele Park, fabulous conversation, and Disneyland - ending with the incredible water show that reminded us "if you can dream it, you can do it". I knew what I hoped would happen these last two days....but what happened far exceeded that!
Yes, we talked business. We talked leadership. We talked strategy. We talked best practices. But mostly, we just talked. We learned about each other women, not just coaches. And I know that even though we were celebrating what we had accomplished, we all came away re-inspired to do and be more. Without doing "training", without having anything official...just by being around each other and sharing and laughing and talking and learning.
It was amazing, truly memorable, and a complete honor to celebrate them. Thank you to my very first coach, Ophelia Conquet, for reminding me of what I said all those years ago...what an honor it was to make good on that promise.
How blessed are we that this team we get to create is made up of people we'd hang out with any way? How lucky are we that our colleagues inspire us to be better people, not just better coaches?
These past two days truly reminded me why I love this business so much, in so many ways. There aren't many people on this planet with whom you can watchan amazing water show at Disneyland and cry because the message in the show hits you right in the heart, and reflects what you are thinking and feeling. smile emoticon That kind of stuff is makes us this business so special...frankly, I think it's what makes our team so special. These coaches and I....we've been in this together for a long time....there's strength in that...but most importantly, there's power in knowing we are creating and building something together that's changing a lot of lives.
As our team grows, I look forward to doing MORE of these trips to celebrate and renew. After all, it's about time.

Where is the LOVE button for this?? I love everything about this....love the athletes featured, love the concept behind it, love the philosophy of being the SUM of ALL your trainings...meaning it's the daily consistent stuff that creates success....it's not sexy, it's not always fun...but it IS what creates success.
Will you take a minute and watch? Let me know what you think.
Women in their 40's are supposed to be heavier, a little bit out of shape, maybe softer than they were in their 20's and 30's, have less energy ....right?
Picture on the left, 6 years ago. Picture on the right, last week.
6 years older. Conventional thinking is that I should be "softer", that I should have gained a few pounds each year - and kept them on.
Why? Just because I'm in my 40's??? Well, I disagree.
THEN - teaching at least 12 classes a week at multiple gyms - mostly cardio - and working out with a personal trainer at least 2x a week
NOW - teaching 5 or 6 classes a week, at 2 places, including PiYo 3x a week and Shaun T is my trainer
THEN - nutrition advice from whoever and whatever, trying the latest trend, drinking Diet Coke every day
NOW - drinking Shakeology every day, listening to nutrition advice from experts and experimenting with and listening to my own body to find what works for me
THEN - running around, doing everything myself
NOW - implementing smart success, working in my strengths, outsourcing other stuff
THEN - I thought I was in good shape
NOW - I KNOW I'm fitter, leaner, and healthier in all ways - mentally, physically, spiritually
Getting older is pretty cool in a lot of ways. It's pretty cool to know that a few simple decisions, a few daily habits, a few basic tweaks can compound so much over time. It's really not complicated. Being lean and fit and strong really is a series of small decisions made every day.
Here's what is even cooler...there is no age limit to getting healthy...to living your healthiest life. You really can start today.
You ready? Message me.
As a Team Beachbody Coach we often talk about our "whys"....but today I want to talk about my "Y"...as in YMCA.
My Y is my home.
My Y is my family.
My Y is my tribe.
My Y is my happy place.
The YMCA is important in my life because that is where "it" all started for me. The Waukesha Family YMCA is where my fitness career began...on a blue bench in the lobby, as I waited for my daughter to finish a dance class. The group exercise director sat down next to me on that blue bench, told me I should become an instructor, and with that one conversation, changed my life.
I'd love to have you come check out my Y...the Fishers YMCA...on Labor Day, Monday September 7 for the Y for ALL workout event. We are asking for a $20 donation, all money will go to Hamilton County, Indiana families who are in need.
My Y isn't just my Y, it can be your Y too.
Married to a college football coach, 3 daughters, Beachbody Master Trainer and Coach, Disney fanatic, aspire to inspire, serve others, and be a force of passion. Meet Julie!
