I vividly remember it. Walking out to the mailbox 6 years ago and getting my first check from Team Beachbody. It was for $38.
I vividly remember it. Sitting at the sort of make shift desk in the kitchen, calling my husband at work to tell him I just got a check for $1000 and could pay our mortgage this month with that check. And that I would get another one like it the next week.
I vividly remember it. Standing onstage at Summit last year, speaking as the newest member of the Team Beachbody Millionaire's Club.
I also vividly remember......trying to find 2 quarters to buy a Diet Coke from a machine....asking family for help.....not knowing if we could make it to the end of the month....wondering how we could create the life we wanted for our family.
I didn't know anything about owning my own business....I just knew I was passionate about fitness, teaching, helping others.
Interesting....when you follow your passions, when you ignore the nay-sayers, the negativity, the debbie-downers, when you work hard, when you get over yourself, when you try to do better each day than you did the day before, try to learn more, try to serve and share and grow, when you dream big....pretty cool stuff can happen.
TIP #2: Hire a trainer.
Trainers offer one-on-one instruction and motivation. They are able to customize workouts and lifting programs that are specifically designed for you. They focus on your form -- when you have the correct form, you'll get the most out of each and every workout. People are often surprised when they learn that I use a personal trainer. Despite the fact I teach classes 5-6 days a week, I do everything in my power to never miss a training appointment. Everyone can benefit from a personal trainer -- everyone!
TIP #3: Train for something.
If you’re growing tired of your weekly classes or nightly run - give yourself a goal - something to work towards -- train for something! When you have a specific goal you tend to work harder and train harder.
Maybe it’s the Mini -- a triathlon -- a wedding -- a high school reunion, even. Set your goal and work towards it. Also, enlist a spouse or friend to join you -- you are 3x more likely to success when you have a fitness partner!

I think the piece that holds people back from becoming a Team Beachbody coach is FEAR. Fear, plain and simple. Fear of not knowing what to do. Fear of 'going it alone'. Fear of failure. Fear of appearing "salesy" (yuck). Fear, fear, fear.
It's interesting how often we let that negative emotion take over our thoughts...how often we eliminate ourselves from the game because of fear. We wait for "a sign" or for someone to choose us. One of my favorite speakers, Seth Godin, says "Choose yourself. Pick yourself". Perfect. To acknowledge the fear...and still, choose yourself. I choose me, I choose to create my life, I choose to acknowledge fear and bet on me anyway.
